Lita in Sing: S1E1

Welcome to my latest version of travelling spam!

I haven't launched my blog for a while I know.
Since, I've been busy and kind of lack some motivation on continue writing, finally I made it. Woo!
Sorry for the delay. I guess some of you might forget me already lol

Here we go..

Before I have been moved to Malaysia, I have to admit that Asian destinations were not prioritised in my list due to a several reasons;
  • Asian destinations (countries) are very close and easy to give a visit which it's easy to go anytime I want, just a short travelling and poof I could stand in my neigbouring countries which might not challenge enough to me
  • I'm into different cultures/ architectures/ and weathers in Western countries more because those are new and different from the place I grew up, which I assume it is the same reason for Europeans or Americans who like to travel to Asia first

However, after I've been working in Malaysia and started travelling in Malaysia for a short while. I started to have an interest through this oriented Asian styles. I think one of the reasons is I've seen how much diversity in Asian countries that we have.
So, first trip outside Malaysia was Singapore.

I've never been to Singapore before but it used to be one of my Eastern Asian country's lists. I mean I had Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan in the list. I was excited for sure. I heard so much about Singapore, as in cleanliness, strict rules and very well manner there, one of the furthest developed country in Asia, centre of finance, engineering, shipping hubs, creative man-made buildings and architectures, and high cost of living e.g. However, this trip was a very short one so I had to admit that I didn't see Singapore that much but it's pretty much enough to attract my nerve to like it there.

Well, let's get on the back of this Trojan horse and bound to Singapore!

Massive thanks to sweet Jeff, who brought me to explore a lot of things there.
A several days have been marked to "less but meaningful" memories already.

I catched a night flight after work from KLIA 2 to Singapore International Airport.
Before the plane landed, I was falling in love with the view from above.
The first glimpse over Singapore was plenty lights from ships all over the sea like the reflection from shining stars in the sky.
The hub of shipping and logistics indeed!

From Stratosphere to Earth

I landed in Singapore around 21.00 hours (local time) and went directly to our accommodation by Grab.
Actually I wanted to get to the place by MRT (the name of a subway) but my phone was literally dying..
So that's why I took the fastest way.

Grab here is very expensive comparing to Grab in Malaysia (of course, high cost of living like I told you before). It costs around SGD 22 or approximately THB 525 or approximately 11 yummy Pad Kaprao with fried egg you can find in Thailand hmm.

Anyway, the Grab driver was so nice. The first thing he asked me after "Good evening, welcome to Singapore" was "Are you working as a model here?". See, he's nice lol.
He started a bit chitchatting just to break the ice with a stranger in his car. He used to work in a shipping business for 30 years before servicing Grab to others. We talked about many things like career path, foods, places to visit in Singapore. It was a fun ride though, thanks uncle Grab!

He dropped me off on Carpenter Street where our hotel is located.
It was late night, dark, quiet, and no internet in my phone.
I tried to find a sign of the hotel on that street, but I did see none.
At that moment of time, I had my very optimistic side and full trustworthy on Singaporean GPS that uncle Grab took me to.

Dang! my battery hit 1% already!
I had no other choice but asked locals who just walked pass where is the hotel located or at least if they could enlighten me the way by looking into Google map.
Guess what, I found the right locals =D

The hotel is lovely, the receptionist, around the age of 50 was very friendly and kind. The room is not that big, but not too small and it has been prepared well, cosy place to roll like a sushi in bed after your tiring day. You can see the view of Clarke Quay from the rooftop as well. I personally love the view from top.
Like someone used to say "Where there is a view, there is a way" … was it?

I put my love on (roof)top
Our first night of exploring the city had just started…

Since I haven't been to Singapore before so most of the city sightseeing, I let him decide.
I was happy to be a good follower lol

First off, foods. Obviously. We love foods. I was starving and we randomly settled at one Japanese restaurant, which was soooo good. They serve variety nice Japanese dishes. The restaurant is located close to Singapore River. Their foods were delicioso especially skewed pork belly, so tender, perfect grilled.

First meal in Sing
Trust me, when you live in KL for a while. At some point, you'll miss pork as much as grizzly bears miss their salmons in winter. I would say Malaysians know how to do with chicken, Singaporeans know how to do with pork, and Thais know how to deal with both =D

Were we full? Hahaha let’s say.. we could roll to other places. Walking didn't work here anymore.

Second off, Views. Fun part was walking to see some attractions along the river at late night which I liked a lot because there's a few tourists, nicer weather comparing to daytime, seeing the city at night was another story, the lights, the views, the architectures, the wind breeze,... You probably see them differently.

Clarke Quay

Merlion Park

The Fullerton Hotel since the British colony

Fish + Lion

Strolling around the city at night is a nice thing to do but strolling around with your beloved one is nicer ;)

Stay tuned for the next Ep.
Have a good [strolling around the city] day,
Lita
